What A Year…
We know it’s not quite the last day of 2017 yet, but we’ve a packed schedule of events with our last wedding of the year taking place today and of course, plenty of New Years Eve celebrations.
Where do we start? We can’t believe that we’re writing the final blog of the year – and what a fantastic, whirlwind year it’s been. When you work in event catering no two days are the same and that’s one of the things we enjoy the most about this crazy business we’re in. We’re constantly heading off in different directions and working in places we have never worked before and we love it – variety really is the spice of life!
When we look back on 2017 we can’t help but be really proud of everything we’ve achieved as it’s been a phenomenal year. An obvious year high was winning the regional final of The Wedding Industry Awards as Best Caterer, an award that was judged on customer feedback supplied by our couples. Some awards are judged solely by people who are incredibly talented in their field but have no knowledge of the finalists, and whilst it’s always an honour to be considered the best by those, it’s not the same as winning based on the feedback of the people you really do it all for – your couples. Nothing makes us happier! We’re also rather proud that our category was such a large one geographically, covering not only Yorkshire but the North East too. We’re now through to the National Finals which take place in London in January – keep your fingers crossed please, we’re up against some stiff competition!
So what else has been ticking our boxes this year? Stand up all the fabulous new venues (and their teams!) that we’re now working with. We’re incredibly pleased to be continuing long standing relationships with some of the finest venues out there, but we’re now fit to burst with options for all of our lovely couples and clients, whether it’s for a wedding, weekend away or a corporate event. Our motto is that you can never have too much choice and because we know the venues so well, we’re well equipped to make suggestions that are just perfect for you. We’re also working more closely with selected marquee and tipi companies so we can recommend the right people for you.
We’ve also swelled our ranks this year with some fab new team members coming on board to join an already very strong team, including Howard and also Claire, who is our lovely corporate liaison. It’s also really important for us that we have a multi skilled team and we now have a number of us who have passed our Personal Licence exams and can run the alcohol side of things even more competently (what’s a good party without alcohol, right?). And talking of additions to the F4D family, our next grandchild is due in the Summer joining his/her cousins, Evie and Harrison. We can’t wait to meet them!
Our little black book has had a review too, and whilst we’re continuing to recommend those people who we love to work with and who we know will do an amazing job for you (nothing changes there!), we’ve handpicked even more fabulous suppliers. All the amazing people can get booked up so quickly but we’re giving you the best chance we can of securing someone special and you can find them on our brand spanking new website which we love. All in all it’s been a crazy but amazing year and we’ll remember so many good times from it. Thank you to all our couples, corporate clients, industry friends and supporters, suppliers and of course our team. We’re incredibly lucky to now consider so many of you friends. Here’s to an amazing 2018 for each and every one of you and remember that the kettle is always on if you’re passing. Enjoy the New Years Eve celebrations and we’ll see you on the other side!
